April 16th - Going South

Dunolly Castle

Before leaving Oban, we walked to the far end of the city, found the hidden pathway and climbed up the small hill. This castle is not under any trust scheme and close to the family property. There was nobody there except us and we enjoyed being the only knights there...

Kilchurn Castle

This castle in the middle of no-where was pretty hard to find. The description was quite clear, but the parking lot seemed invisible. We drove twice through the town and back looking for the railway conduct which we had to cross, we even called the hotel which used to organize boats trips. In the end, it was luck not information that helped us out. On our way to the castle, we met a little boy sketching...

Hill House in Helensburgh

Our last stop, before we had to drive through Glasgow to our hotel, was Mackintosh's Hill House. From the outside it does not look very interesting, but the furniture designed in Art Deco was beautiful and worth a visit (although the entrance fee was extremely high!).
