Sandwood Bay
At least one of the days travelling, so we had decided back in Munich, we wanted to walk. After having reviewed all travel literature we could find, we decided that the appraised, but remote, Sandwood Bay would serve our purposes best. So the next morning, we started early, parked our car and walked for 1.5 hour through monotonous peatland on that hot and windy day.
Ardvreck
After having chilled enough and walked back to our car, we continued our journey further south. When parking the car and getting off, we only saw Ardveck castle or let's say its ruins.
But then we discovered Calda House, not far from the castle. This 17th century mansion was built to replace the castle as a family home and got its name from its white colored walls.
Ullapool
We arrived unusually early at our B&B, having trouble with maneuvering the car in time. The landlady observed us angrily and the moment we managed to get out of the way, she drove away as fast as she could. Only a couple of minutes later, both of us exhausted and uncertain what to do, she came back and welcomed us warmly. She had to bring her niece to the ferry and had been a little late herself.
We checked in and went for a short walk through the small town.
